How do I Preview and Publish my Form?

Modified on Mon, 21 Oct at 12:45 PM

Droplet gives you two great ways to preview your form while you're building it.  You can see how it looks and feels for users, but also can test out the workflow in real-time.  Previewing helps you catch issues early, making sure your form works exactly the way you want it to before publishing.

Previewing & Debugging Your Form

As you’re building your form, you’ll want to preview and test it.  Droplet has two main ways to help you do this:

Option 1

Workflow Test Panel

If you’re tweaking the workflow, try the Test Panel in the Workflow Editor for a full form view.

1

Open the Workflow Editor.

2

Click the Test button at the top left of the canvas. A form preview will expand on the left side, showing the form as it will appear to users. You can resize this left panel to show various screen-size experiences.

3

To debug, expand the Inputs & Values panel on the lower part of the workflow canvas. This shows every field along with its label, ID, and value, helping you track field values while testing form behavior.

This view is ideal for checking workflows across devices, as you can adjust the preview size to mimic mobile and desktop screens.

Pro Tip!
Use the Inputs & Values panel at the bottom of the workflow canvas to see the exact data your fields are capturing.  If a field isn't behaving as expected, this is where you'll find clues to fix it!

Option 2

Preview & Debug in Form Editor

In the Form Editor, you can access a special Preview & Debug option to test the functionality while fine-tuning your form.

1

In the Form Editor, click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.

2

Select Preview & Debug.  A preview of your form will open, allowing you to test each field.

This mode is primarily for testing while you build.  You can switch between workflow steps using a dropdown below the form content, and view all inputs and their values for debugging.

Sharing Your Form Preview

Once you’ve fine-tuned your form, you might want feedback from your team or other stakeholders.  Sharing a form preview is a great way to do this before publishing.

1

On the Forms page, click the three-dot menu on the relevant form's card.

2

Select View Preview.

3

A new window will open, showing your form with a purple banner across the top that says "Preview Mode."

4

Copy the URL and share it with anyone who needs to review.

This shared preview lets your team interact with the form fields without generating real submissions, so it’s perfect for gathering feedback safely.  They also won't have access to the Inputs & Values panel or Debug data, which makes for a preview experience that's more aligned with what actual submitters will have.

Publishing Your Form

When you’re satisfied with your form, it’s time to publish!  This step makes your form live and ready for submissions.

1

Save any final changes to your form.

2

Click the Publish button in the top-right corner of the Form Editor.

3

Once published, your form is now active and ready to accept submissions.

We recommend running a few test submissions after publishing to make sure everything is working as expected, especially for more complex workflows.
