Droplet Terms Glossary

Form
A form is a collection of fields where users enter information. It’s designed to collect and store data in Droplet’s application, making it easy for you to access and use.
Field or Component
This is what users interact with when filling out a form. Fields or components can be text boxes, dropdowns, checkboxes, tables, document uploaders, signatures, and more.
Layout
The layout refers to how fields are grouped and presented to users at each step of the workflow. It shapes the user experience as they move through the form.
Submission
After filling out a form, the user clicks the Submit button, completing their part of the process. This action generates a submission, which is a filled-out version of the form that moves to the next step in the workflow.
Workflow
A workflow is a series of steps that a submission follows after someone clicks submit or reject. It assigns tasks to one user at a time and moves in a linear sequence.
Step
A step is an action point in the workflow where a specific individual needs to do something, like entering more information or approving the submission. Each step can have its own unique layout for the assigned user to interact with.
Step Assignee
The step assignee is the person responsible for completing the required action at a specific step in the workflow. While each step can only have one assignee, who that person is may vary depending on the information selected in the form (e.g., Person A approves for Location 1, Person B for Location 2).
Custom Notification
A custom notification is an email sent at a specific step in the workflow, often including a read-only link to view the submission.
Assignment Notification
An assignment notification is an email alert sent to the step assignee, providing a link for them to take action on the submission.
