If you need to reassign a submission that’s still in the “Not Started” status, you’re in the right place! It’s pretty similar to reassigning an “In Progress” submission, but with a key difference that you’ll want to keep in mind.
When a user begins a submission and saves their progress, Droplet makes sure that only they can see the work they’ve done so far. No one else — including others involved in the workflow — can view that saved draft until the user clicks Submit, which pushes the submission forward.
However, if you decide to reassign a submission while it’s in the “Not Started” status, here’s the catch: any saved work will be lost during the reassignment process. This action is permanent, so make sure that’s what you want to do before proceeding.
How to Reassign a Submission
Ready to move forward? Here’s a quick walkthrough:
Head to the All Submissions page (or the My Assignments or My Submissions page, if the submission is assigned to you or initiated by you)
Find the submission(s) you want to reassign and check the box next to each one.
If your role allows it, you’ll see an Actions dropdown menu at the top.
From the dropdown, select Assign.
At this point, you’ll get a notification letting you know how many submissions contain unfinished work. If you choose to continue, you’ll be able to reassign the submission to a new user, but remember: the saved work will be deleted, and there’s no way to recover it.
Once you reassign a submission, any saved draft content will be permanently discarded. So, double-check with your team before making this irreversible move!
